Everyone has interest in something. Mine are not so unique. Pretty much anything that is fast and fun make up my
interest. I have slower hobbies as well. I got into motorcycles when I tuned 30, yes 30. I know it's a late start to something like learning a new motorized vehicle, but it's never too late to have
some fun. I started modding mini-trucks when I was in High School, mostly the stereos. I was kind of the go-to guy in my home town for electronic installation. My dad is to blame for teaching me about
color coding wires and reading the manual. After I got into the military I bought the first car that was completely mine. I proceeded to chop the springs myself (I don't suggest this practice, since there
are springs avalible for most cars now) and replacing the stock wheels. This was the beginning of my fascination with all things fast. I have had several revisions since then including modded imports and
bikes. I decided not to ride on the street anymore after seeing many of my fellow riders fall victim to their own need to go fast and the beloved SUV with a dingbat driving it. I reserved myself to the track
and for a while was pacified with that. The expense and time between track days grew and I decided to sell my road bike. A year or so later my friends all convinced me to convert to the dirt as it is so much
cheaper and safer. Safer, yea right! I have been down more than a south congress hooker since I got a dirt bike. Re-injured my knee, smashed my finger so badly the print is just now starting to show up
again. I'll give you safer you little %#^*! And I wouldn't stop for anything. Most motor sports interest me. Some not as much as others. NASCAR (non athletic sport centered around rednecks)
is not my favorite, but considering my lineage I should at least give them a whooohoo and spill some beer on my girlfriend as I flip through them on F()x sports. Not really a fan of that network. The fact
that they bought SPEED VISION, and moved anything worth watching to midnight on Sunday really torks me to no end. That little piece aside I enjoy going fast.
My other less adrenaline based hobbies include
photography. I know you are saying how do you go from race bike to sitting in field waiting for the sun to come up so you can shoot butterflies, and your pictures aren't that good Cotton. Well you gotta do
something to take up time when you are not working, taking care of dogs and trying to kill yourself on an out of control piece of metal in the middle of the woods. And every now and then you catch the right light,
can crop out the leftover McDonalds cup some dip shit threw out of his SUV while beating his wife on the way to the game, and get a shot worth calling decent.
My girlfriend and I are involved in Boxer
Rescue. Well, she is involved and I just do what she needs me to do. Mostly this involvement means transporting, feeding, and cleaning up after them. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy helping out when I
can. Some of the dogs are literally on their way to certain death or worse a miserable life when we get them. Most people who go out and get a Boxer don't have a clue what they are getting and the money
grubbing jacktard of a breeder isn't going to tell them a thing (qualify by saying that there are good breeders out there, just not that many). So we get all of the excuses in the world. My favorite is "we
just can't afford to keep fluffy after out fourth kid and we bought the second house in the country, so we just need to get rid of him." As if it was an old couch. I am not amused at their attempt to be caring
about the dog either. Most say "I want what is best for the dog" when the surrender their heartworm positive 6 year old malnourished animal. Gee, you could have fooled me! Enough bashing the dimwitted,
I just hope their room in hell is warm enough for them.
Other than that I just like doing the fun stuff whatever that is at the time. See the photos page for more insight into things I like to do and see. |
